Type locality. Mata do Utinga, Belém, Pará, Brazil.
Bionomics. Females of this species have been collected biting humans, a rooster and an opossum (Guimarães et al. 1987; Talaga et al. 2015), mostly (91%) in the canopy (Guimarães et al. 1985) in the Atlantic Forest.
Arbovirus infection records. This species has been found naturally infected with St. Louis, Tucunduba, Sororoca and Wyeomyia viruses in Brazil (Hérve et al. 1986; Pinheiro et al. 1981).
Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Amapá, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul; Rondônia and São Paulo (Lane & Cerqueira 1942; Lane 1953; Forattini et al. 1968, 1986a, 1986b, 1973; Pinheiro et al. 1981; Guimarães & Arlé 1984; Guimarães et al. 1985; Guimarães & Victório1986; Guimarães et al. 1987, 2000 a, 2000b; Dégallier et al. 1998; Hutchings et al. 2005, 2011; Pinto et al. 2009; Gomes et al. 2010; Alencar et al. 2011; Moreno et al. 2011; Confalonieri & Costa Neto 2012; Abreu et al. 2019).
Occurrence in other countries. Colombia and Peru (Wilkerson et al. 2021).
