Type locality. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Bionomics. Immature stages have been found in tree holes and Brazil nut pods ( Bertholletia excelsa) (Lane & Cerqueira 1942). Larvae of this species were observed preying on mosquitoes of the genera Culex Linnaeus, 1758 and Limatus Theobald, 1901 in accumulated water in banana leaves at ground level (Bonne & Bonne-Wepster 1925).
Arbovirus infection records. None.
Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Pará and Rondônia * (Lane & Cerqueira 1942; Lane 1953; Forattini et al. 1970; Fé et al. 2003; Hutchings et al. 2005, 2011).
* New record. State of Rondônia, Machadinho D’Oeste, road (linha) MA 32, coll. Lourenço-de-Oliveira, R., 31/III/1987, reared from larvae collected in a tree hole, 1♂ LePeG (Voucher CCULI1092).
Occurrence in other countries. Ecuador, French Guiana, Panama, Dominican Republic and Suriname (Wilkerson et al. 2021).
