Type locality. Igarapé do Leão, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.

Bionomics. Immature stages of this species occur mainly in tree holes but can also be found in other phytotelmata, such as epiphytic bromeliads and traveller’s palms ( Phenakospermum, Strelitziaceae). Females were collected landing on humans in forest during the daytime (08:00‒15:00) (Cerqueira 1961).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Paraná and São Paulo (Forattini et al. 1986a, 1988; Hutchings et al. 2005, 2010, 2011; Moreno et al. 2011; Cunha et al. 2019; Silva et al. 2019).
