Genus Stellitethya Sarà, 1994

Definition. Tethyidae with irregular massive sometimes subspherical or thick encrusting growth forms, without a distinct cortex. Megascleres styles or strongyloxeas (fusiform styles), vertically crossing the sponge in parallel bundles and ending in large flattened tubercles at the surface. Megasters represented by oxyspherasters and micrasters represented by tylasters (after Sarà 2002).
