Genus Terebra Bruguière, 1789
Remarks. Molecular phylogenies (Castelin et al. 2012) have revealed that most of the genera recognized within the Terebridae are not monophyletic. Therefore a very broad definition of genus Terebra is used here, following Bratcher & Cernohorsky (1987). This definition excludes genera Hastula, Duplicaria and Terenolla, but includes many genera, such as Triplostephanus, Cinguloterebra, Clathroterebra, Strioterebrum, Granuliterebrum and Myurella .
Type species. Buccinum subulatum Linnaeus, 1767 (by subsequent monotypy); Recent, Tropical Indo-Pacific.
