Remarks: Weber’s record of the species from Point Barrow (Alaska) was based on specimens used later as H. devia types. The status of the latter is not clear yet (see remarks on H. devia). The majority of other published
Canadian findings are probably based on Hammer’s records (1953) of H. manubrialis var. assimilis (listed in the H. assimilis entry) which are also unreliable or at least need confirmation. General distribution: considered cosmopolitan.
