New records.

Israel • 1 spcm; Palmachim; 31.9292°N, 34.6405°E; depth 36.9 m; 29 May 2004; soft substrate; grab; NM project (station 19); size: L 3.2 mm, H 3.2 mm.

Remarks.

We report a juvenile but living individual of Chavania erythraea, a lucinid occurring in the Red Sea, the Persian (Arabian) Gulf and the Arabian Sea (Glover and Taylor 2001). This is the first record of this species from the Mediterranean Sea. Adults develop a commarginal lamellar sculpture.
