The species has been recently recorded for the Mediterranean Israeli coastline based on empty shells collected off the Soreq desalination plant, ~ 15 km south of Tel Aviv (Scaperrotta et al. 2019). The species is also known from Cyprus (Cecalupo and Quadri 1994), Turkey (Giunchi et al. 2001), and Greece (Scaperrotta et al. 2019). To our knowledge, this is the first record of living individuals in the Mediterranean Sea.
