Niphargus cymbalus Karaman G.S., 2017

Distribution: Endemic to Greece: Epirus (IO).

Type material: Holotype: male 6.1 mm (slides G17/1, G17/2, G17/3). G-17= Epirus, Glikorizo, Arta, 10 m a.s.l., freshwater well, water temperature 11.5°C, pH 7, 24.02.1976, one exp. accompanied by Niphargus sp. (leg. Argano, Pesce & Bianco) . Holotype is deposited temporarily in KCPM .

Remarks: Only males have been described by Karaman G.S. (1917d). It is a subterranean species, found in a well and shares the type locality with N. fautor Karaman G.S. (2017f) .

Etymology: The species is named after broad pereopods of the species which resemble the musical percussion instrument cymbal.
