Distribution: Endemic to Greece: Central Greece (MT, WA).
Type material: Holotype: male 12 mm partially dissected and slides 231/1–231/2, Sp. 424 (G-231)= Spilia Draconera Cave, Attica, 29.04.1954 (leg. K. Lindberg), Karaman G.S. (2018c). Examined material: S-6361 (G- 88) = Thessaly (= Tessalia), spring on main road Lamia-Larissa (= Laritza), water temp. 14°C, pH 6.7; NO 2 1 mg /l, 11.05.1977 (leg. Pesce, Maggi & Miranda), male 6 mm Karaman G.S. (2018c); Melissotrypa cave, Maze lake section, 2012-2018, Borko et al. (2019).
Remarks: Niphargus lindbergi has been partially described by Karaman S. (1956) while Karaman G.S. report- ed on additional diagnostic characters using the original slides in 2018. It has been found in three localities so far.
Etymology: The species is named after its collector, the copepodologist Dr. Knut Lindberg.
