Senecio trilobus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 868. 1753.
"Habitat in Hispania." RCN: 6280.
Neotype (Alexander & Mill in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 366. 1998): Herb. Linn. No. 346.17 (S), see p. 175, above.
Current name: Senecio trilobus L. ( Asteraceae).
Note: Alexander (in Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh 37: 421. 1979) discussed the elements associated with this name, and referred to Herb. Linn. No. 346.17 (S; as “364.17”), from Montin’s herbarium, as a "provisional lectotype ". This sheet carries nothing written by Linnaeus, and the main annotations appear to have been added after 1767. As no alternative original elements for the name appear to exist, that specimen was subsequently designated as neotype.
