Saxifraga ajugifolia Linnaeus, Centuria I Plantarum: 11. 1755.
"Habitat in Gallo-provinciae montibus." RCN: 3167.
Lectotype (Webb in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 95: 266. 1987): Herb. Linn. No. 575.47 (LINN) .
Current name: Saxifraga prostii Sternb. ( Saxifragaceae).
Note: Specific epithet spelled “ajugaefolia” in the protologue. Webb (in Feddes Repert. 68: 204. 1963) rejected the name as a nomen ambiguum and, in later typifying it, recommended that a formal proposal for its rejection would be "most desirable". However, no such proposal has been made. If so rejected, the correct name would be S. prostii Sternb.
