Sedum acre Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 432. 1753.
"Habitat in Europae campis siccissimis sterilissimis." RCN: 3357.
Lectotype ('t Hart in Jarvis in Taxon 41: 569. 1992): Herb. Clifford: 177, Sedum 5 (BM-000628577) .
Generitype of Sedum Linnaeus.
Current name: Sedum acre L. ( Crassulaceae).
Note: Sedum acre, with the type designated by 't Hart, was proposed as conserved type of the genus by Jarvis (in Taxon 41: 569. 1992). However, the proposal was eventually ruled unnecessary by the General Committee (see Barrie, l.c. 55: 795-796. 2006 for a review of the history of this and related proposals).
Clausen, Sedum N. America: 550 (1975) incorrectly treated Herb. Linn. 192.1 (S) as the type (material illustrated by Fröderström in Acta Horti Gothob. 7, Suppl.: 64, pl. XXXIX, f. 1. 1931), but this sheet is annotated only by Linnaeus filius and is not original material for the name. 't Hart & Jarvis (in Taxon 42: 400. 1993) explained the reasons for 't Hart’s 1992 type choice.
