Current name: Solidago flexicaulis L. ( Asteraceae).

Note: Gray (in Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts 17: 178. 1882) discussed the identity of 998.7 (LINN) "which appears to be the original of the species", and other elements, but did not designate a type.
