Genus Valdasus Stål

Type species: Valdasus schoenherri Stål, 1860:56 . Monotypic. Valdasus: Wolski et al. 2020 (review genus, key spp., diagnosis).

Diagnosis. Body dorsal region deeply punctate and covered with erect, thick, and long setae. Eyes highly pedunculated, and vertex strongly sulcate medially. Ostiolar peritreme elliptical shape, slightly raised above the evaporative area. Mesepimeron punctate or rugose-punctate. (Wolski et al. 2020).

Remarks. Wolski et al. (2020) updated the genus Valdasus in the Cylapini tribe and identified new species in Brazil, Ecuador, and French Guiana. The authors described the history of the genus, its geographical distribution, descriptions, redescriptions, reclassifications, and a key to the species.
