Genus Eurychilella Reuter
Eurychilella Reuter, 1908: 159 . Type species: Eurychilella pallida Reuter 1908: 159 . Monotypic.
Diagnosis. Anterior portion of the pronotum somewhat projecting over the vertex and characterized by the eyes being produced laterally and distinctly curved backwards (Carvalho 1953B); labium reaching the middle of the mesosternum or beyond; antennal segment II shorter than head width. Scutellum punctate. Hemelytron widened at the middle; the cuneus less than three times as long as the basal width, not reaching the apex of the membrane (Ferreira & Henry 2011).
Remarks. Carvalho (1953B) presented a diagnosis for the genus Eurychilella, redescription of E. pallida, and original descriptions of E. fasciata, E. cinnabarina, E. rubra, and E. bicolor . Capriles (1984) provided a key to identify the following Bryocorinae genera: Panamacoris, Eurychiloides, Eccritotarsus, and Eurychilella . Carvalho & Ferreira (1995) provided a taxonomic key to identify genera of Bryocorinae ranging from the Neotropics to Northern Mexico. To perform new taxonomic studies, the Eurychilella genus must be thoroughly reviewed. It will comprise observations of type series, specimens housed in entomological institutions, and papers including new species discovered since 1953. To identify new specimens of the genus, an updated taxonomic key is necessary.
