Genus Pachymeroceroides Carvalho & Gomes

Pachymeroceroides Carvalho & Gomes, 1971 C:468 (original designation, new genus, description, and discussion); Uceli et al. 2009 (review). Type species: Pachymeroceroides bromeliae (Carvalho, 1946) . New combination.

Diagnosis. Bright metallic in general, with dense, fine, and erect pilosity primarily on the pronotum. Head vertical; eyes contiguous with anterior margin of pronotum; antennal segment II thickened towards the apex; and labium reaching the posterior coxae. Pronotum finely punctate; large calli with a fossa on the inferior margin along the lateral margin of pronotum. Scutellum with a basal depression. On males, the hemelytra with a large rounded and protruding fossa in the exocorium’s median region; cuneus internally rounded; and membrane vein with fine and short pilosity (Carvalho and Gomes 1971).

Remarks. The genus Pachymeroceroides was created by Carvalho & Gomes (1971C) to include the only species, Eurycipitia bromelia Carvalho, 1946, based on 11 males and 20 females from Brazil: Amazonas, Rio de Janeiro (Jacarepaguá, restinga de Guaratiba) e São Paulo (Uceli et al. 2009).
