Genus Tenthecoris Scott
Tenthecoris Scott 1866:65 .
Type species: Tenthecoris bicolor Scott, 1886:65 . Monotypic.
Diagnosis. Species reddish or yellowish, with metallic-blue or black markings. The eyes sessile and located in the back of head.
Remarks. Carvalho (1951) introduced the taxonomic history and revision of the genus, providing diagnoses and a key to the species. Species of the genus are often found in orchids, including the genera Acineta; Aclandiae; Caladium; Cattleya; Dendrobium; Epidendrum; Gomesa; Laelia; Lycaste; Miltonia; Oncidium; Primavera; Rhynchostele; Rossioglossum (Ferreira et al. 2001; Nogueira et al. 2019A). They are considered pests, causing extensive chlorosis, leaf fall, and flower loss (Hsiao & Sailer 1947; Wheeler 2001).
