H. fasciatum (Stossich, 1902)

Type host. Eurasian or common curlew, Numenius arquata (Linnaeus) ( Charadriiformes: Scolopacidae).

Type locality. Europe; specific type locality unknown (specimen from the Museum of Florence, Italy).

Additional host. Unidentified charadriiform—Bona et al. (1995).

Additional locality. Italy—Bona et al. (1995).

Remarks. This species was originally described as Haematotrephus fasciatus Stossich, 1902, but it was transferred to Haematoprimum by Yamaguti (1958). It was considered to be a synonym of Cyclocoelum obscurum (Leidy, 1887) by Joyeux & Baer (1927). It has a pretesticular ovary that forms a triangle with the diagonal testes (Haematotrephinae), the genital pore is postpharyngeal and the vitelline fields are not confluent posteriorly, placing it in Haematotrephus, as originally proposed by Stossich (1902). No rudimentary oral sucker described—Stossich (1902).
