H. theodori Witenberg, 1928

Type host. Northern pintail, Dafila acuta Linnaeus ( Anseriformes: Anatidae).

Type locality. Jordan River, Palestine.

Remarks. Although originally described as Hyptiasmus theodori Witenberg, 1928, this species was considered to be a synonym of Hyptiasmus arcuatus (Brandes, 1892 of Stossich, 1902) by Dubois (1959). It was transferred to Ophthalmophagus by Gower (1939). It was considered to be in Hyptiasmus by Bashkirova (1950) and Yamaguti (1958, 1971). The intertesticular ovary forms nearly a straight line with the tandem to nearly tandem testes (Hyptiasminae), the genital pore is prepharyngeal (above the mid-level of the pharynx) and the vitelline fields are confluent posteriorly placing it in Hyptiasmus as originally described by Witenberg (1928). No oral or ventral sucker described—Witenberg (1928) and Bashkirova (1950).
