Type host. These authors listed two hosts: the lesser sandhill crane, Grus canadensis canadensis (Linnaeus) and the Canadian sandhill crane Grus canadensis rowani Walkinshaw ( Gruiformes: Gruidae); specific subspecies of type host unknown.

Type locality. These authors listed five localities: Alaska, Canada, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas; specific type locality unknown.

Remarks. Kocan et al. (1982) originally described this species as Prohyptiasmus grusi Kocan, Waldroup, Ramakka & Iverson, 1982 . This species has an interesticular ovary that is in, or nearly in, a straight line with the testes (Hyptiasminae), a postpharyngeal genital pore and the vitelline fields are not confluent posteriorly, placing it in Morishitium . Rudimentary oral sucker present—Kocan et al. (1982).
