Distribution outside Iran. Austria (Shenefelt 1972), Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, UK, Uzbekistan (Yu et al. 2012), Switzerland (Shenefelt 1972).
Host records. Hedya nubiferana, Coleophora ibipenella, C. serratella, Lyonetia clerkella and Paraswammerdamia lutarea (Nixon 1973) . This species was introduced to Canada to control the birch casebearer moth Coleophora serratella (Raske 1978) . It was also reported from Anthonomus pomorum (Fulmek 1968); Bucculatrix bechsteiniella on Pyrus communis; B. crataegi on Pyrus communis (Balevski and Tomov 1997); Leucoptera malifolliella on Malus domestica (Papp 1984) and on M. sylvestri (Balevski and Tomov 1998); Lyonetia clerkella on Prunus persica (Togashi 1981) and on Sorbus aucuparia (Vidal 1993); L. prunifoliella on Malus sylvestri (Balevski and Tomov 1997); Phyllonorycter oxyacanthae on Crataegus monogyna (Shaw and Askew 1976) . Also, Yu et al. (2012) recorded from Phyllonorycter leucographella as host species. In Iran it has been reported from Leucoptera malifolliela on Malus domestica (Žikić et al. 2014) .
