Type locality and habitat.

USA, Tennessee, Erwin, on hyphae of white-rot fungus, Phlebiopsis gigantea (as Peniophora gigantea), on bark of log of white pine, Pinus strobus ( Pinaceae).

U.S.A.: 2 ♀♀ (IZSAV) - 14. 6. 1965, Elizabeth, inner bark, Dendroctonus frontalis, J. Moser Collection (No. 4814, 4840) .

Remarks.

This species has been occasionally misidentified as Ameroseius longitrichus Hirschmann, 1963 in North America (Pielou and Verma 1968, Moser and Roton 1971, Furniss et al. 1972, Moser 1975; see also remarks under A. longitrichus). There are 29 pairs of setae on dorsal shield of Ameroseius peniophorae, not 27 pairs as stated in the original description.
