Digonocryptus rufigaster (Szépligeti, 1916)

(Figs 34–36, 83)

Morphological variation. MALE. Specimens from Trinidad have yellowish T3–7 (Figs 35–36), a striking contrast with black tergites of typical males (Fig. 34).

Comments. The key by Aguiar and Ramos (2011) fails to work with the black color morph of the present species. This will become evident in couplet 37, that should lead to couplet 41 with specimens of D. rufigaster . Identification can however be safely based on the shape of the yellow mark on the propodeum, and on the accompanying, long, stout, complete posterior transverse carina. The examined specimens otherwise fit well the description presented by Aguiar and Ramos (2011), including the report on the complex morphological variation of the species.
