Colletes caspicus Morawitz 1874: 174 –175. Type locality: Derbent (Dagestan Republic, Russia).

Types. Lectotype, ♀, designated here // gold circle // “Фанъ” // caspicus F. Mor. Typ., handwritten by F. Morawitz // lectotype Colletes caspicus Morawitz 1874 design. Proshchalykin & Kuhlmann 2015, typewritten red label, examined [ZISP].

Current status. Valid (Kuhlmann & Proshchalykin 2013).

Remark. In the original description of Colletes caspicus (Morawitz 1874), the type specimen (or specimens) came from the Derbent [Dagestan Republic, Russia]. In ZISP, there is one specimen with handwritten label “ Colletes caspicus ♀ F. Morawitz”, by Morawitz, from “Fan” [?Dagestan Republic]. This specimen perfectly corresponds to the Morawitz's description and is hereby designated as the lectotype of Colletes caspicus .
