29. Fat Sand Rat, Psammomys obesus Cretzschmar, 1828

Subspecies: P. o. terraesanctae Thomas, 1902 .

Distribution: Status uncertain but apparently rare. Recorded in southwest of Al-Badia and the foothill range of Lebanon mountains (Fig. 35).

Previous records: Al-Nabk (Harrison & Bates 1991) and Al-Qaryatein (Aharoni 1932; Shehab 2004a).
