98. Goitered Gazelle, Gazella subgutturosa (Güldenstädt, 1778)

Subspecies: G. s. subgutturosa (Güldenstaedt, 1778) .

Distribution: Confined to a narrow geographical range of arid plains and steppes near Jabal Abd Al-Aziz and Mesopotamia (Fig. 107).

Previous records: ar-Raqqa (Dollman & Burlace 1935), vicinity of Tell Abiad (Misonne 1957), Ras Al-Ayn (Kumerloeve 1975), Buhayrat Al-Khatuniyah, Jabal Abd Al-Aziz, and Ras Al-Ayn (Evans 1994), and Jabal Abd Al-Aziz (Masseti 2000).

Recent records: Southwest steppes of Jabal Abd al-Aziz (2019–2021).

Remarks: Distribution may be extended into Mesopotamia based on photographic evidence obtained from steppes near Jabal Abd al-Aziz which proved to be G. subgutturosa .
