13. Ponera laeviceps HNS.

P. nigra; capite elongata laevi nitido; thorace abdomineque laevigatis nitidis; tarsis pallidis ferrugineis.

Worker. Length 3 lines. Black, smooth and shining: a few striae on the face on each side of the clypeus; the latter triangular, with a central raised longitudinal carina; a longitudinal impressed line runs from the insertion of the antennae half-way towards the posterior margin of the vertex. Thorax: in front forming a short neck, behind which it is swollen; from thence it is much narrowed and compressed; the apex oblique and transversely rugose; the tarsi pale rufo-testaceous; the abdomen with a deep strangulation between' the first and second segment; the node elevated and rounded above.
