Remarks: the distribution range provided by Ramírez & Zamponi (1981) is not based on specific records and, therefore, we did not consider that information for this species (see Genzano et al. 2008a).

Distribution in South America: medusa—Pacific Ocean, Colombia to Chile, from 12°S to 37°S, and no specific location in Colombia (Kramp 1961, 1966; Palma 1994; Palma & Rosales 1995; Pavez et al. 2010); Atlantic Ocean, Brazil, at 22.6 S 30 W (Kramp 1957; Migotto et al. 2002). Habitat: medusa—from 250 to 1900m depth (Kramp 1957).
