Boccardia polybranchia (Haswell, 1885)
Type species for the genus.
Type locality: Hunter River, New South Wales, Australia; in mudblisters in the Rock Oyster, Saccostrea glomerata .
Type material: 1) Syntypes: 6 as SMNH 742 Perialla claparadei Kinberg, 1866 (Söderström 1920), incomplete and poor pigmentation. Type material not deposited/or lost.
Location and author of most recently described material: 1) Syntypes: Rio de Janeiro, benthic (Söderström 1920); 2) associated with Turbo sarmaticus, Scutellastra longicosta, Perna perna, Haliotis midae, Western Cape Province, South Africa (Simon et al. 2010) as Boccardia cf. polybranchia (Haswell, 1885) sensu Blake & Kudenov (1978); material from NSW (Coffs Harbour; Jervis Bay) examined.
