Type Locality: SW Central African Republic, Dzanga-Sangha Forest Reserve, unlogged mixed species forest near Kongana Camp [02°47'N, 16°25'E).

Vernacular Names: Kongana Shrew.

Distribution: High forest in Central African Republic and Republic of Congo (unpubl.).

Conservation: A comparison of 16s rRNA sequences showed a closer relationship to S. ollula (Querouil et al., 2001) .
