Label details: ‘ radiaria Pfr, Colomons (sic) Island’—in Pfeiffer’s handwriting.
Type locality: Incorrectly stated as ‘Salomon’s Islands’ by Pfeiffer (1855a: 56).
Previous illustrations of type material: Reeve (1854 [in 1851–1854]: pl. 189, fig. 1322); Tryon (1886 [from Reeve 1854]: pl. 62, fig. 52).
Remarks: Original description based on one or more specimens in the Cuming collection. Conspecific with Nanina ? kivi Gray, 1843 and Helix irradiata Gould, 1846 (Hedley & Suter 1893: 633; Suter 1894d: 247; Suter 1913b: 653). A New Zealand species; records from the Solomon Islands (e.g., by Pfeiffer 1855a: 55, 1859: 166; Tryon 1886: 213) were in error.
Current Taxonomy: Treated as a junior synonym of Nanina ? kivi Gray, 1843 by Hedley & Suter (1893: 633) and Suter (1894d: 247, 1913b: 653).
