Type material: Although not stated by Pfeiffer (1854), this species was probably described from one or more specimens in the Cuming collection; the type material was not found in NHMUK collections in 2018, whereabouts unknown .
Type locality: ‘New Zealand’ (Pfeiffer 1854: 147).
Remarks: No published illustrations of type material are available. Considered conspecific with Vitrina zebra Le Guillou, 1842; Helix multilimbata Hombron & Jacquinot, 1847 and Helix phlogophora Pfeiffer, 1850 (e.g., Martens 1873: 12; Hutton 1884b: 198; Hedley & Suter 1893: 643; Suter 1913b: 680; Powell 1979: 314).
Current Taxonomy: Treated as a junior synonym of Vitrina zebra (Le Guillou, 1842) by Hutton (1884b: 198) and Powell (1979: 314).
