Label details: ‘No. 29. H. pachystyla Pfr., Australia, 1 in number, M.C’.

Type locality: ‘Port Curtis, Queensland’ (Smith 1992: 173, after Reeve 1852 [in 1851–1854]: species 364); incorrectly stated as ‘New Zealand’ by Pfeiffer (1845: 71).

Previous illustrations of type material: Reeve (1852 [in 1851–1854]: pl. 70, fig. 364), Pfeiffer (1853 [in 1852–1860]: pl. 150, fig. 7).

Remarks: Records from New Zealand by Pfeiffer (1845: 71, 1848: 19, 1868a: 226) and Pfeiffer & Clessin (1881: 193) were in error. This is an eastern Australian species, as noted by Reeve (1852 [in 1851–1854]: species 364).

Current Taxonomy: Listed as Xanthomelon pacystylum (Pfeiffer, 1845) by Smith (1992: 71) and Stanisic et al. (2010: 450).

Distribution: Southeastern Queensland, Australia (Stanisic et al. 2010).
