Remarks: The type material was sent to the Museum Godeffroy in Hamburg by the naturalist Dr. Edouard Graeffe, but when it was collected, and by whom, was not stated (Mousson 1873: 110). Vitrina kermadeensis Smith, 1873 and Vitrina ultima Mousson, 1873 are conspecific, according to Iredale (1913). Smith’s description was published on 1 April 1873 (see Evenhuis 2003: 26), and Mousson’s on 18 April 1873 (Fischer-Piette 1937: 90), so Smith’s name has priority, as noted by Iredale (1913: 364).

Current Taxonomy: Treated as a subjective junior synonym of Vitrina kermadecensis E. A. Smith, 1873 by Iredale (1913: 364).
