Type material: Syntypes (3), ZMZ 501943 (dry shell material).

Label details: ‘Ne’. exposita Mss. 10, Kermandek I (Grffe 72)’ in Mousson’s handwriting.

Type locality: ‘l’île du Dimanche (groupe de Kermandec)’ (Mousson 1873: 112).

Previous illustrations of type material: Mousson (1873: pl. 7, fig. 2); Tryon (1886 [from Mousson 1873]: pl. 23, fig. 60).

Remarks: The type material was sent to the Museum Godeffroy in Hamburg by the naturalist Dr. Edouard Graeffe, but when it was collected, and by whom, was not stated (Mousson 1873: 110). Trochonanina exposita Mousson, 1873 is the type species of Fanulum Iredale, 1913, by original designation.

Current Taxonomy: Listed as Fanulum expositum (Mousson, 1873) by Iredale (1913: 372, 1915b: 498), Oliver (1915: 550) and Spencer et al. (2009: 216).

Distribution: Kermadec Islands; Raoul Island (Mousson 1873; Iredale 1913, 1915b; Oliver 1915).
