Diagnosis.

Corallum solitary, patellate to trochoid, and usually firmly attached by a robust pedicel. Septotheca costate. Paliform lobes present on all but last septal cycle. Columella papillose.

Type species.

Caryophyllia margaritata Jourdan, 1895, by monotypy.
