Variation. One specimen from Capão do Leão (Rio Grande do Sul State, southern Brazil) with orbital band faint, inconspicuous (Fig. 11 G-H) (vs. distinct); prepectal carina reaching 0.85–0.90 of subtegular ridge (vs. reaching subtegular ridge); scutellum with two yellow spots (Fig. 11F) (vs. absent); hind femur reddish brown (vs. black); tergites mostly reddish brown with blackish marks (Figs 11A–E) (vs. blackish, submedially with reddish brown marks); fore wing apically light infuscate (vs. hyaline); areolet about as long as wide (vs. rectangular, wider than high); second recurrent vein meeting areolet at its apical or basal 0.4 (vs. at middle).
Distribution. Brazil (Minas Gerais NR, Rio de Janeiro NR, Rio Grande do Sul NR, Santa Catarina) (Fig. 20C). Bootstrap analysis suggests that this species occurs typically between 100–600 m (Fig. 21E), slightly above the typical range of most Agonocryptus spp. (Fig. 21).
