Syntypes. Apalocnemis plorator: five males and five females (NHMUK), Argentina: Lake Nahuel Huapi Eastern end, Bariloche, L. Gutierrez. Chile: Ancud ; three males and one female (USNM), Argentina: Bariloche, and Chile: Concepción, Castro .

Apalocnemis plorator var. halterata: three males (NHMUK), Argentina: Lake Nahuel Huapi Eastern End, Bariloche.

Distribution. Argentina: Río Negro Province (Lago Nahuel Huapi, Bariloche, Lago Gutiérrez). Chile: Región del Biobío: Concepción Province (Concepción); Región de Los Lagos: Chiloé Province (Ancud, Castro).
