Taxonomy. Kerivoula depressa G. S. Miller, 1906,

“Biapo, Carin Hills, north-east of Tounghoo, southern Burma [= Myanmar].”

See K. hardwickii . Unlike other members of the hardwickii species group, K. depressa has a distinctly flattened skull that separatesit from other members of the clade that have domed skulls. Kerivoula dongduongana was included under K. depressa until recently split using phylogenetic and morphological data; they are sympatrically distributed in the Annamite Mountains ofVietnam. Kerivoula depressa appears to be sister to true K. hardwickii in South-east Asia. Monotypic.

Distribution. E Myanmar, Laos, N & S Vietnam, and W & NE Cambodia; distribution is only tentative, and it likely occurs in much of Indochina.

Descriptive notes. Head-body 32: 6 mm, tail 42- 8 mm, ear 11- 6 mm, hindfoot 6 mm (one specimen), forearm 32-32- 8 mm. Fur is silky and dense. Dorsal pelage is buff to cream buff (hairs brown with darker brown tip); venter is similar but a little paler. Bare parts of face, ears, and membranes are uniform brown, and membranes are semi-translucent. Ears are funnel-shaped, and fold extends from base ofear to halfway up posterior margin; tragus is long and pointed, with distinct basal notch, and curvesslightly outward at ip. Wings are attached at base oftoes, and calcar is well developed and curved. Skull is relatively flat compared with Hardwicke’s Woolly Bat ( K. hardwickii) and the Dark Woolly Bat ( K. furva).
