Type locality. Austria (“Habitat in Austria Mus. Dom. Schieffermyller”).

Material examined. None.

Identity. Periclepsis cinctana (Denis and Schiffermüller, 1775) ( Tortricinae, Archipini).

Remarks. This species was described in synonymy. Fabricius referred to Phalaena ceretana (Denis and Schiffermüller, 1775: 129.3), and he apparently intended to propose a replacement name for that species. There is, however, no ceretana described by Denis and Schiffermüller, but the citation mentioned refers to the original description of Tortrix cinctana D. and S. (see also cretana Fabricius, 1794), now in the genus Periclepsis Bradley, 1977 (Brown 2005) .
