Allium roseum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 296. 1753.

"Habitat Monspelii in vineis." RCN: 2353.

Lectotype (Seisums in Taxon 47: 715. 1998): [icon] " Allium silvestre sive moly minus roseo amplo flore" in Magnol, Bot. Monspel.: 11, 10. 1676.

Current name: Allium roseum L. ( Liliaceae / Alliaceae).

Note: De Wilde-Duyfjes (in Taxon 22: 78. 1973) designated Herb. Linn. 419.10 (LINN) as lectotype. However, Seisums (in Taxon 47: 715. 1998) argued that de Wilde-Duyfjes’ typification must be rejected as the specimen conflicts with the protologue (and is a specimen of A. narcissiflorum Vill.). He designated a Magnol plate (see p. 277) as lectotype in its place.
