Aira arundinacea Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 64. 1753.

"Habitat in Oriente." RCN: 551.

Neotype (Renvoize in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 244. 2000): Turkey. Aras Valley, 19 Jul 1966, 1,100-1,200m, Davis 46876 (K; iso- E).

Current name: Eragrostis collina Trin. ( Poaceae).

Note: Bor (in Townsend & al., Fl. Iraq 9: 442. 1968) stated that Linnaeus based this name on a Tournefort specimen in BM. This material has not been traced. Although Linnaeus cites a Tournefort reference in synonymy, there is no accompanying illustration, and Linnaeus appears not to have studied Tournefort’s collections. Renvoize therefore designated a neotype.
