Aster tardiflorus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum, ed. 2, 2: 1231. 1763.

"Habitat in America septentrionali." RCN: 6341.

Lectotype (Jones in Phytologia 55: 385. 1984): Herb. Linn. No. 997.48 (LINN) .

Current name: Aster novi-belgii L. subsp. tardiflorus (L.) A.G. Jones ( Asteraceae).

Note: Gray (in Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts 17: 167. 1882) noted material in LINN that had been cultivated in the Uppsala Botanic Garden. There are three sheets (997.48, 997.49 and 997.50 LINN) but they are evidently not part of a single gathering, so Art. 9.15 could not apply.
