Lectotype (Cope in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 246. 2000): Herb. Linn. No. 1211.5 (LINN) .

Current name: Themeda quadrivalvis (L.) Kuntze ( Poaceae).

Note: A later homonym of A. nutans L. (1753) and hence illegitimate. In 1774 (Syst. Veg., ed. 13: 758), Linnaeus stated that “nutans” was a typographic error and that “quadrivalvis” was the intended epithet.
