Pachydellus ineptus (Hirschmann & Krauss, 1965)

Pachylaelaps ineptus Hirschmann & Krauss, 1965: 5 . Type locality not stated.

Pachydellus ineptus . — Mašán, 2007a: 202.

not Pachylaelaps ineptus . — Karg, 1971: 148; 1993: 122 (=?); Koroleva, 1977b: 439 (= Pachydellus hades).

Notes. The name Pachylaelaps ineptus has been used in a large number of faunistic and ecological studies of mesostigmatic mites in Europe. It is likely that this name has been applied to a number of different species. There are many specimens of a Pachydellus species collected in Bulgaria, and deposited in the mite collection of the senior author, which are in perfect agreement with figures of Pachydellus ineptus as illustrated by Hirschmann & Krauss (1965). Karg’s illustration (1971, 1993) of the male chelicera does not belong to a species of Pachydellus, so it cannot be P. ineptus .
