Type:— TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Trinidad: s. loc., ex hort., s.d., D. Lockhart sub Colvill s.n. (lectotype, designated here: original illustration published in the protologue by Ker Gawler 1823: t. 759!).

Notes: — Ker Gawler (1823) described the species originally as Pleurothallis punctata based on a living and apparently non-preserved specimen that was illustrated in the protologue by the author. Lindley (1825) created the genus Notylia and transferred P. punctata to the new genus. The original illustration indicated in the protologue by Ker Gawler (1823: t. 759) is designated here as a lectotype.
