Type:— FRENCH GUIANA: s. loc., s.d. (not found). FRENCH GUIANA. s. loc., s.d., P.A. Poiteau s.n. (lectotype, designated here: W-R 25017!, isolectotype: K-L s.n.!).

Notes: — Reichenbach (1854) described N. cardioglossa without indicating in the protologue the type specimen or place where it was deposited, only the type locality as French Guiana. Two samples corresponding to this species collected by Poiteau in French Guiana were located in the herbaria W-R and K-L, in addition to an illustration made by the author. Since there is no quoted sample or illustration of the original work, the sample W-R 25017 is designated here as a lectotype because it has a greater number of preserved flowers.
