Type:— TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Trinidad: s. loc., s.d., J.H. Hart s.n. (not found). Neotype (designated here): — TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Trinidad: south of Sange Grande, 7 April 1979, B.R. Phillips & W.D. Philcox 122 (TRIN 22701!).

Notes: — Cogniaux (1910) described N. angustifolia based on a sample by Hart, but without indicating a holotype or informing the herbarium in which the material was deposited. No material corresponding to Hart’s sample from that year has been located in the herbaria in Trinidad. Thus, the sample collected from the type locality by Phillips and Philcox is designated here as a neotype.
