Type:— TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Trinidad: s. loc., ex hort., July 1824, R. Woodford sub Messrs. Loddiges s.n. (lost). (lectotype, designated here: original illustration published in the protologue by Loddiges 1824: t. 806!).

Notes: — Loddiges (1824) described G. tenuiflora based on a cultivated and apparently non-preserved specimen. In the protologue, the author presents a brief characterization of the specimen and an illustration that it is designated here as a lectotype.
